When you mention Bali, a few things likely come to mind: islands, resorts, romantic weddings, honeymoon getaways; Bali is a jewel in Indonesia. Whether you are a backpacker, on a honeymoon trip, or enjoying a family vacation – Bali attracts everyone with its unique charm.

Although Bali is called an “island,” the area is not small, covering a total area of 5,920 km. In this post, I have listed a typical itinerary and a few activities to truly enjoy your getaway to this island!

To make the most of your Bali trip, consider these:

  1. Stay in a holiday villa or resort to truly ‘slow down’.
  2. Explore and shop for various local products.
  3. Experience the thrill of snorkeling and surfing.
  4. Treat yourself to a professional spa session.
  5. Enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the sunset.

Here’s my Bali itinerary to relax and pamper yourself:

Outdoor activities in Bali

1. Boating and rafting

Rafting is a fantastic way to explore the scenic waters around Bali. Typically, you can opt for a packaged tour that transports you to more remote areas with calm seas and plenty to explore.

In Bali, there are two rivers that offer river rafting experiences: the Telaga Waja River, known for its numerous rapids, is perfect for the adventurous, while the Ayung River has a gentler flow, making it suitable for all skill levels.

2. Diving

Bali boasts clean seawater, perfect for snorkeling. If you’re a novice, it’s crucial to have a professional instructor guide you through your diving experience. Practice at beginner-friendly beaches to grasp the essentials before attempting more challenging dives. Safety should always be a priority.

Diving spots in Bali are scattered across the island and are suitable for diving throughout the year. Beyond vibrant corals and tropical fish, you might encounter the adorable sunfish, the powerful yet gentle manta rays, and even sharks!

And …. That’s not it! There is whole lot to discover…

Tulamben’s Liberty Shipwreck, Nusa Dua’s calm coral reef area, the beautiful reef of Lembongan Island, and the Pemuteran Underwater Buddha make for Bali’s fantastic underwater world!

3. Eat to your heartful

Bali is renowned for its delicious cuisines such as satay, crispy duck, roast chicken, beef soup, seafood, and more. It’s genuinely a relaxing holiday destination. Even those who prefer not to travel far can choose to visit Bali!

4. Riding an ATV

Another enjoyable activity in Bali is riding ATV off-road vehicles. Have a blast as you traverse the peaceful Ubud countryside, navigate trails through the dense tropical rainforest, and cruise along the black sand beach. It’s a thrilling way to have some fun!

5. Go Snorkeling in Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach, with its crescent-shaped bay, is one of the liveliest beaches in Bali. It attracts surfers chasing the waves, and it’s also friendly to beginners interested in snorkeling and those learning the basics of diving.

Kuta Beach, stretching for several kilometers, is indeed Bali’s largest hotspot. In the evening, Kuta Beach transforms into a lively scene: dine by candlelight at seaside restaurants with a view of the sunset, savor unique Balinese dance performances, order a cocktail at beach bars, or hit the dance floor!

6. Ride the waves in Canggu beach

beach, dusk, people

Unlike Kuta, crowded with tourists, Canggu is a true surfer’s paradise. Streets adorned with colorful graffiti, motorcyclists heading to the beach, and bustling cafes lining both sides. In Canggu, finding an experienced surf instructor is relatively easy, making it perfect for those wanting to learn the craft.
